Pay for Computer and Math Jobs Rises 2.8%

Women in tech still make only 85 percent of what their male counterparts take home.

Computerworld: New data from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed that the median pay for computer and math jobs climbed 2.8 percent in 2011 to reach $70,594. While a 2.8 percent increase may not seem like much, it's better than the 1.7 percent increase for all computer, engineering and science occupations and the 1.2 percent average increase for all U.S. jobs.

However, the news wasn't as good for female computer and math workers. Their median take-home pay was $62,155, or 85 percent of male earnings. In 2010, women with computer and math jobs made 89 percent as much as men.
