The company's chief legal officer accuses its rivals of joining together to buy up patents that hamper Android.

Reuters: Google's chief legal officer, David Drummond, has posted a blog which accuses rivals like Microsoft, Apple and Oracle of waging a "a hostile, organized campaign against Android" through "bogus patents." The post comes on the heels of Microsoft and Apple's joint purchase of thousands of Nortel patents. Drummond says the purpose of the purchase was to make sure Google didn't get them.

Microsoft General Counsel Brad Smith responded to the rant by tweeting, "Google says we bought Novell patents to keep them from Google. Really? We asked them to bid jointly with us. They said no."
