The social network will agree to privacy audits for the next 20 years.

NY Times: According to unnamed sources close to the negotiations, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Facebook are close to work outing a deal addressing complaints related to the social network's privacy practices. Under the agreement, Facebook would undergo privacy audits for the next 20 years and would be prohibited from making public any information that a user had previously shared only privately. However, Facebook would not be required to ask users to opt in to all sharing features on the site.

It's unclear when the settlement might be finalized.
