“I feel the need to be the best,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

The New York Times: On Wednesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone 5. The new smartphone is 8 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4. It also boasts faster Internet speeds and a more powerful processor. Also, for the first time, Apple changed the dimensions on the iPhone screen--it's now longer, although the width stayed the same. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company aimed to build the industry's best smartphone by combining the most important technologies into a beautifully designed package. “I feel the need to be the best,” he said.

While many applauded the iPhone 5 introduction, others felt underwhelmed by the debut. One poll found that 57 percent of those surveyed were disappointed by the event. In addition, 57 percent also expressed disappointment with the iPhone 5 itself.
