A court rules that Apple doesn't have the right to use the name "iPad" in China.

Financial Times: A court has ruled that Apple does not have the right to use the name "iPad" on products sold in China. The decision came in a trademark lawsuit brought by Proview Technology (Shenzhen). Proview registered the iPad trademark in the EU, China, Mexico, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam between 2000 and 2004. The company later sold the rights to that trademark to Apple, but Proview said the deal did not include trademark rights in China.

Proview is now suing to block sales of the iPad in the Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Huizhou. “We are starting with these two cities, and if we are successful in getting iPad sales stopped, we will consider going after Apple resellers elsewhere in China,” said Xie Xianghui, one of Proview's lawyers.
