Elderly Georgian Woman Cuts Off Web Access to Whole of Armenia

The 75-year-old was digging for copper scrap when she accidentally cut a key fiber-optic cable.

The Guardian: Around 90 percent of the Web users in the country of Armenia could not access the Internet for five hours after an elderly woman accidentally cut a fiber-optic cable with a spade. The 75-year-old was digging for scrap copper, a common way to make money in the region.

Authorities are investigating the incident, but have released the woman "on account of her old age." She could face up to three years in prison for damaging property.
