Cisco Data Center Revamp Cuts Across Switches, Servers, Storage

The company is rolling out new products for its Nexus switching line, MDS SAN platform, Unified Computing System server offering and NX-OS operating system software.

NetworkWorld: Cisco is rolling out a large number of new and improved products for its data center customers. They include the new Nexus 3000 switch, improvements to its Nexus 5548 and 5596 switches, three additions to its fabric extender (FEX) line, new multi-hop FibreChannel-over-Ethernet (FCoE) capabilities for the Nexus 7000 and the MDS 9500 SAN switch, MDS 9000 Storage Media Encryption fabric service, two new services for its Nexus 101 appliance, a new UCS C260 M2 rack-mount server, new versions of three other UCS M2 servers, enhancements to its Data Center Network Manager solution, and more. Most of the offerings will debut in the second quarter.

However, the company has still not announced the release of its anticipated data center fabric line code-named "Jawbreaker."
