Billions Lost Due to IT Network Outages in 2010: Survey

A CDW survey finds that 25 percent of enterprises suffered outages of 4 hours or more in the last year.

eWeek: IT systems integrator CDW has released the results of a survey of 7,000 medium and large enterprises. It found that 25 percent of those surveyed had suffered network outages of 4 hours or more during the last year. The company estimates that downtime cost U.S. businesses at least $1.7 billion.

The three most common causes of network outages were power outages, hardware failure and telecom service outages.
