Senators McCain and Kerry are leading the efforts to create an "online privacy bill of rights."

Wall Street Journal: Senators John McCain and John Kerry are working together to create an "online privacy bill of rights," sources say. The new bill would reportedly require that companies get consumers' permission before collecting information about them and that companies show consumers any data they've collected.

The bill will likely be introduced before next Wednesday, when the Senate Commerce Committee holds a hearing on online privacy.
