Microsoft Is Said to Pay Nokia More Than $1 Billion in Deal

In return, Nokia will pay Microsoft a fee for each copy of Windows Phone 7 it uses on its handsets.

Bloomberg: Sources close to the deal are revealing more details about the agreement that is putting Windows Phone 7 on Nokia handsets. The sources say that Microsoft will pay Nokia more than $1 billion to promote and develop Windows-based handsets. In return, Nokia will pay Microsoft a fee for each phone that uses Microsoft's OS.

The deal is said to last for about five years.
