Google's operating system now dominates in the U.S.

Digital Trends: A new report from market researchers at Nielsen says that Google's Android is now the most popular mobile operating system in the U.S. with 29 percent of the market. Apple's iOS and RIM's BlackBerry tie for second with 27 percent each.

However, Nielsen points out that while Apple and RIM aren't winning the operating system battle, they are winning the handset fight. "An analysis by manufacturer shows RIM and Apple to be the winners compared to other device makers since they are the only ones creating and selling smartphones with their respective operating systems,” says the Nielsen report.
