Despite scrutiny from lawmakers, the social networking site plans to allow third-party companies to access users' phone numbers and addresses if users give their permission.

Bloomberg: When Facebook rolled out a feature that allowed third-party sites and applications to access users' addresses and phone numbers, it prompted outrage from privacy advocates and inquiries from members of Congress. Facebook pulled the tool after a couple of days, but now says it plans to re-introduce it.

The company says it is evaluating ways to “enhance user control” to make sure that users understand that they are giving permission for companies to access their personal information. Facebook says it may not allow the feature for users under eighteen.
