Rob Bernard says 80 percent of IT pros aren't doing enough to green up their industry.

Guardian: As Microsoft's chief environmental strategist, Rob Bernard has helped his company make big gains in "greening" up their operations, but he says the rest of the industry needs to make similar changes. "A small percentage of the IT industry is doing really progressive, proactive things. But the problem is that over 80% of IT professionals still aren't really addressing this issue at the level they could. They don't actively monitor and drive energy reduction. The problem is behaviour change – not technology," said Bernard.

The Microsoft exec recommends that IT department, the real estate facilities department and the financial officers work together to address energy efficiency, and he points out the eco-friendly benefits of cloud computing.
