As Violence Escalates, Libya Cuts off the Internet

Web access is currently down in most parts of the country.

Computerworld: Following in the footsteps of Egypt, Libya has cut off access to the Internet as protesters take to the streets in the country. The country's largest ISP, General Post and Telecommunications Company, began shutting down service and Friday, and reports say the Internet is still off in most parts of the country.

Because Libya is smaller than Egypt with fewer service providers, it was apparently even easier for the government there to disconnect Internet services.
