The NIST issues a draft document that tackles security and privacy issues.

TechWorld: The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has officially issued a draft document that sets standards for security and privacy standards in cloud computing environments. Written by Tim Grance and Wayne Jansen, the draft advises, "To maximize effectiveness and minimize costs, security and privacy must be considered from the initial planning stage at the start of the systems development life cycle. Attempting to address security after implementation and deployment is not only much more difficult and expensive, but also more risky."

The NIST will take public comment on the draft until February 28.
