Chrome, Safari Increase Web Browser Market Share

Internet Explorer and Firefox are still first and second in the browser wars.

TechWorld: NetApplications has released its browser market share statistics for January, and they reveal that Google's Chrome browser has surpassed 10 percent market share. The browser is still third behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer with 56 percent market share and Firefox with 22.75 percent. Apple's Safari increased its share by .4 percent to hit 6.3 percent.

Among the versions of Internet Explorer, IE8 showed the most growth for the month. "With 34.79% of users worldwide, Internet Explorer 8 remains the most popular and fastest growing browser in the market," blogged Microsoft's Roger Capriotti.
