Netgear CEO Slams Apple, Jobs

Patrick Lo told an Australian audience that Apple's closed platform will fail.

Sydney Morning Herald: At an Australian event, Netgear chairman and CEO Patrick Lo expressed a fairly common view--that closed platforms like Apple's are doomed to lose to open platforms like Google's in the long run. However, Lo's comments are generating a lot of buzz because they were accompanied by criticisms of Steve Jobs that seem particularly insensitive given the current state of Jobs' health.

"Once Steve Jobs goes away, which is probably not far away, then Apple will have to make a strategic decision on whether to open up the platform," said Lo.
