Android Overtakes Symbian

In the last quarter of 2010, manufacturers shipped 33.3 million Android phones.

NY Times: According to market researchers at Canalys, Google's Android mobile operating system is now the most popular in the world, toppling Nokia's Symbian. In the last quarter of 2010, smartphone makers shipped 33.3 million Android phones, up from just 4.7 million in the same quarter of 2009.

However, 1.3 billion people globally continue to use Nokia phones, making it the leading manufacturer.
