Smartphone Shipments Surged in 2010

Nokia has the biggest market share at 34.2 percent.

The Register: According to a new report from market watcher Strategy Analytics, smartphone shipments increased 68 percent in 2010, to hit 292.9 million units. Nokia continues to lead with 34.2 percent of the global market, followed by RIM (16.7 percent) and Apple (16.2 percent).

The "Others" category, which includes major Android phone makers like HTC, Motorola, Samsung and Sony Ericsson, accounted for 32.9 percent of the market. The "Others" experienced the highest growth for the year--103.9 percent.
