Cnet: Microsoft says that it has now sold more than 2 million Windows Phone 7 handsets; however, that number indicates the number of sales to retailers and network operators, not end users. At the end of December, Microsoft reported sales of more than 1.5 million devices.
Microsoft's Greg Sullivan says that the real measure of success for the phone isn't sales--it's customer satisfaction and developer interest. "93 percent of Windows Phone customers are satisfied or very satisfied with Windows Phone 7, and 90 percent would recommend the phone to others," he said. He added that the platform has 24,000 registered developers who have created more than 6,500 apps for the phones.
