Google Still Dominates Advertising But Facebook is on the Rise

New research suggests that Google's biggest competition won't be another search engine--it will be from social media.

VentureBeat: A new report from IHS Screen Digest finds that Google still enjoys a 83 percent share of the search advertising market, losing no ground to competition from Microsoft's Bing search engine. The search giant also grew its display and mobile advertising revenue considerably during 2010.

The report's authors believe that the only real threat to Google's ad business isn't another search engine--it's social media, specifically Facebook.
