The company is also cutting prices for its support plans in an effort to attract more customers to its cloud computing offerings.

PCWorld: Amazon has cut prices for its existing Amazon Web Services (AWS) support plans and has added two new tiers. The new "Bronze" tier for software developers costs $49 per month for 12 hour to one-business day response times. The "Platinum" option for large enterprises who need 15-minute response will cost $15,000 per month or 10 percent of a customer's monthly AWS usage fees. The existing Gold plan will now cost $400 per month or 5 percent to 10 percent of monthly fees, while Silver will cost the higher of $100 per month or 5 percent of monthly AWS charges.

Industry watchers say the changes could help the company better compete with Rackspace and other cloud computing firms.
