Microsoft Warns of Windows Graphics Vulnerability

Wednesday Jan 5th 2011 by Staff

A flaw in the Windows Graphics Rendering Engine impacts XP and Vista users.

InformationWeek: Microsoft has confirmed the existence of a security bug first reported last month at the Power of Community conference. A security flaw in the Windows Graphics Rendering Engine makes it possible to conceal malware in thumbnail images in Office documents that are attached to e-mail messages. However, the company says it is not aware of any active actives exploiting this vulnerability currently.

The problem affects Vista, XP, and Server 2003, but not Windows 7 or Server 2008.
