Windows 7 Breaks 20% Share Barrier

The latest Microsoft operating system is already more popular than Vista ever was.

Computerworld: New numbers from Net Applications show that more than 20 percent of users now use Windows 7. That number is important because it's a milestone that Microsoft's previous Windows operating system--Vista--never reached. The much older Windows XP retains the top position in the report, with 56.7 percent of users, although users have been steadily declining in recent months.

Overall, the number of Windows users declined by half of a percentage point during December, as mobile operating systems Android and iOS gained ground.
