A Google Mobile Payment Service?

A Google "digital wallet" may become a reality this year.

BusinessWeek: Insiders say that Google may build and debut a "digital wallet" service this year. Based on near-field communication (NFC) technology, the service would allow users to make payments by waving or tapping their phones at checkout registers.

Several others companies are reportedly building services that use NFC, including eBay, Visa, Verizon Wireless, AT&T (T), and T-Mobile USA.
