Skype Still Down for Millions

Thursday Dec 23rd 2010 by Staff

Yesterday's outage has spilled over into a second day, leaving about half of its users unable to log in or place calls.

PCMagazine: VoIP provider Skype is now in the second day of an outage affecting millions of its users. Currently, about 10 million people have been able to log in and use the service--less than half of the average 24 million people using Skype at any given time.

The problem appears to be related to its peer-to-peer structure. Yesterday, many PCs designated as "super-nodes" failed at the same time.

The Skype Connect service for enterprise customers has not been affected.
