Microsoft Said to Be Unveiling Windows for ARM Chips

Unnamed sources say Redmond will unveil a full version of Windows that runs on smartphones and tablets at CES.

Bloomberg: Unnamed sources tell Bloomberg that Microsoft will unveil a full version of Windows that runs on ARM processors at the Computer Electronics Show (CES) next month. Most smartphones and tablets use ARM processors, which are manufactured by Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Samsung.

The operating system would also work on processors made by Intel and AMD, but it would have special features to make it particularly suited for battery-powered devices.
