InformationWeek: On Friday, Google added a new feature to its search results: warnings about hacked sites. The company now uses a variety of automated tools to detect when sites may have been hacked. If the search engine detects suspicious activity, it places a warning which reads "this site may be compromised" next to the site's links on search results pages. Google then contacts the site's Webmaster about the warning.
Once the problem is taken care of, Google says the warning will automatically be removed within days.
