Critical IE Update in Biggest Ever Patch Tuesday

Redmond has broken its previous records for the most security bulletins issued in a month and the most in a year.

The Register: Microsoft released 17 security bulletins patching 40 vulnerabilities in yesterday's "Patch Tuesday" release. That sets a record for the most bulletins the company has issued in a single month. Two of the bulletins are considered critical. Fourteen are marked "important," and one is rated "moderate."

For the year, Microsoft issued 106 bulletins addressing 261 separate vulnerabilities. Both of those numbers also break previous records.
