Criminals managed to fool ad networks, include Google's, into advertising malicious sites.

InfoWorld: According to security vendor Armorize, cyber criminals managed to fool several advertising networks, including Google's DoubleClick, into posting ads for a malicious site. The attack began in early December and installed a number of malicious programs on the PCs of users who clicked the ads.

Researchers at Symantec say that in 2010, 90 percent of attacks originated at a legitimate site. "There used to be a time when ... the well-behaved and educated surfer was pretty safe," wrote Symantec's Dan Bleaken. "Today, this is no longer the case."
