Dell in Talks to Buy Compellent for $876 Million

The No. 3 PC maker is offering less than current market value for the storage vendor.

Bloomberg: Recently, large tech companies have been gobbling up smaller storage vendors. After losing out to HP in an earlier bidding war for 3Par, Dell has announced that it is in talks to acquire Compellent Technologies Inc, which makes data storage technology.

Dell's bid for the company was actually 18 percent less than its market valuation. Stocks for storage vendors have risen dramatically in the months since the 3Par deal was announced.
