IT Jobs Outlook Modest for 2011

Wednesday Dec 8th 2010 by Staff

Forty-eight percent of IT managers plan to add staff next year, but some work will head to offshore outsourcing firms.

Computerworld: "Nervous stability" is how John Longwell, vice president of research at Computer Economics, describes the IT job outlook for the coming year. In its latest survey of IT managers, his firm found that 48 percent planned to add jobs in 2011, while 11 percent planned cuts. "The layoffs are over, people are starting to add workers to their payrolls, but it is going to be modest," said Longwell.

Offshore outsourcing is also expected to increase next year, sending many lower-level IT jobs overseas.
