Google Wave Gets a Second Life from Apache

The Wave in a Box project aims to turn Apache into a Wave server.

PCWorld: Wave, Google's attempt to unify e-mail, instant messaging, document sharing, blog posts, status updates, and other forms of communication, fizzled out quickly when the company canceled the project earlier this year. However, it now appears the project will live on at the Apache Foundation.

The open source group is working to incorporate Wave technology into its server software through a project called "Wave in a Box" or WIAB.
