New "protected mode" feature makes it more difficult to carry out PDF attacks.

Computerworld: Adobe has released Reader X, a new version of its PDF reader with enhanced security features. The update includes "protected mode," which uses sandboxing technology that makes it more difficult for malware to alter system processes. "Even if exploitable security vulnerabilities are found by an attacker, Adobe Reader Protected Mode will help prevent the attacker from writing files or installing malware on potential victims' computers," said Adobe's Brad Arkin.

The new protected mode is only available in the Windows version of Reader X; the OS X and Android versions don't have it.
