Half of SMBs Block Employee Access to Social Networks

A new survey reveals that companies are evolving their security policies to deal with threats from social networking.

eWeek: A new survey by security company Webroot shows that small businesses are changing their policies to deal with new threats from social networking sites. A full 50 percent of those surveyed said they don't allow employees to visit any social networks from company devices. In addition, 42 percent of businesses said that they had changed their policies because of an employee's misuse of social networking sites.

On a site-by-site basis, 39 percent of those surveyed block access to Facebook, 30 percent block Twitter and 27 percent block YouTube.
