EU to Invest $21.4 Million into IBM-Led Cloud Storage Project

Three-year Cloud Vision project will investigate cloud storage technologies like computational storage and content-centric storage.

TechWorld: The European Union has announced that it will invest €15.7 million (US$21.4 million) in a three-year cloud storage research project led by IBM. The Vision Cloud (Virtualised Storage Services Foundation for the Future Internet) initiative also has backing from Siemens, SAP, the National Technical University of Athens and the Swedish Institute of Computer Science.

The project leaders hope to improve the delivery of rich data and storage services. To that end, they will investigate technologies for computational storage, content-centric storage, secure access control and data mobility and federation, among others.
