Apache Declares War on Oracle over Java

Open source foundation threatens to vote down the next update of Java if Oracle continues its restrictive licensing practices.

ITWorld: Upset about Oracle's restrictions on Java licensing, the Apache Software Foundation is asking the other members of the Java Community Process (JCP) to vote down the next update of the programming language unless the company changes its ways."Why would we want to be in an organization where the rules of law don't matter? Our being on the [JCP Executive Committee] would be a sham. It would show that the community doesn't matter, that we'd basically cave into Oracle pushing stuff through, whether or not it would be in the best interest of the community," said Apache's Jim Jagielski.

Current Field of Use (FOU) restrictions on the Java license impact Apache's Project Harmony.
