RIM to Sell Tablet for Less Than $500 to Take On iPad

The PlayBook's support for Flash will help differentiate it from Apple's tablet.

Bloomberg: In an interview in Seoul, RIM CEO Jim Balsillie supplied some more details about his company's forthcoming tablet, the PlayBook. Balsillie said the PlayBook will cost "less than $500," a price that undercuts Apple's iPad, which starts at $499. Also unlike the iPad, the RIM tablet will be able to play Flash animations and video.

The iPad's dominance will “change when we’re in the market,” said Balsillie.
