Dell to Ditch 25,000 BlackBerrys in Bid to Promote Own Service

Employees will now have to use Dell phones.

Wall Street Journal: In the past, Dell employees used BlackBerry phones to stay in touch, but the company says it will switch all 25,000 employees to Dell's own phones instead. For now, employees will use the Dell Venue Pro, which runs Windows Phone 7. In the future, they'll also have the choice of an Android phone.

Dell says the move will save the company 25 percent of its mobile costs. "Clearly in this decision we are competing with RIM, because we're kicking them out," added Dell CFO Brian Gladden.
