Apple Gets Out Of The Server Business

Friday Nov 5th 2010 by Staff

The company will stop sales of the rack-mounted Xserve after Jan. 31.

SFGate: Back in 2002, Apple first introduced Xserve, a rack-mounted server that runs on OS X. But the business never really took off, and now Apple says it will discontinue sales after January 31, 2011. Existing customers will continue to receive support for three years.

Enterprises that still want to run an OS X server can order a Mac Pro or Mac Mini with server software pre-installed.
