Smartphones Now 28% of U.S. Cellphone Market

Forty-one percent of mobile phones purchased in the last six months were smartphones.

Slash Gear: According to the latest figures from Nielsen, 28 percent of all mobile service subscribers now own smartphones. In fact, in the last six months, 41 percent of all new phones purchased were smartphones.

The Nielsen report also says that smartphone owners tend to be younger and more ethnically diverse than feature phone owners.
