A new lawsuit claims the Interior Department unfairly favored Microsoft in competitive bid process.

Washington Post: Google has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Interior Department for illegally favoring Microsoft in a competitive bid process. At issue is a $59 million contract for a new Web-based e-mail system. Google has asked a judge to halt the bidding process, which it says is rigged so that Microsoft will win.

“Google is a proponent of open competition on the Internet and in the technology sector in general,” a Google spokesman said. “Here, a fair and open process could save U.S. taxpayers tens of millions of dollars and result in better services. We’re asking the Department of Interior to allow for a true competition when selecting its technology providers.”
