Android Captures Smartphone Lead In U.S.

InformationWeek: Two separate market research firms--Canalys and NPD Group--have come out with reports full of good news for Android. They say Google's mobile OS is now the most popular mobile operating system in the U.S. with 43.6 percent of the market. Apple placed second with 26.2 percent of the market, and RIM had 24.3 percent.

However, when you compare the most popular devices sold, the places shift considerably. Apple's iPhone 4 is the most popular phone in the U.S., followed by the BlackBerry Curve 85xx, the LG Cosmos, the Motorola Droid X, and the HTC EVO 4G.
