Mac Observer: Market research firm IDC has released a new report on global mobile phone shipments, and it contains good news for Apple. The company is now the fourth largest mobile phone manufacturer with 14.1 million iPhone shipments during the third quarter of 2010. That's enough for a 4.1 percent share of the market, and it places Apple ahead of phone makers like RIM, Motorola and Sony Ericsson.
Ahead of Apple on the list were Nokia (32.4 percent market share), Samsung (21 percent market share) and LG Electronics (8.3 percent market share). RIM was number five on the list.
