Under the terms of a contract, Unisys will provide support and maintenance for organizations that purchase Apple products.

Bloomberg: According to Gene Zapfel, a managing partner at Unisys, the company has signed a contract with Apple, agreeing to provide support and maintenance services for companies and government agencies that purchase the iPad and other Apple products. Recently, Apple CEO Steve Jobs noted that 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies are deploying or testing the iPhone and 60 percent of Fortune 1000 companies are using or testing the iPad. “Most of those organizations are still pretty heavily PC- based,” Zapfel said. “Apple is going to crack the nut and clients are going to start buying a lot more.”

Unisys has already begun creating iOS apps for government agencies, including Homeland Security.
