Microsoft Says Windows 8 Roughly Two Years Away

A post on Microsoft's Dutch Web site hints about the company's future plans for its flagship operating system.

Cnet: For a short time on Sunday morning, Microsoft's Dutch Web site posted a note which said that Windows 8 would be released in two years. That would be about three years between releases--a long time if Microsoft hopes to keep up with the competition.

The Web site has since been modified. It now says nothing about Windows 8, but does say that Windows 7 SP1 will be released in the first half of next year.
