Nearly 3 percent of German homeowners ask to have their residences eliminated from the digital mapping tool.

PCMagazine: Following some negotiations with German officials, Google gave German citizens the opportunity to opt out of having their homes pictured in the "Street View" feature of its online mapping services. "Out of a total of 8,458,084 households we received 244,237 opt-outs, which equals 2.89 percent of households. Two out of three opt-ots came through our online tool," reported Google's Andreas Turk.

Those who missed the initial deadline for having their houses removed from the service can still opt out by using Street View's "report a problem" button.
