InfoWorld: Microsoft has released a Security Intelligence Report detailing threats found by Microsoft's Malware Protection Center, Security Response Center, and Security Engineering Center during the first half of 2010. The company reports that 11 million PCs in the U.S. were infected in the first quarter, but that number fell to 9.6 million in the second quarter. That made the U.S. the country with the highest rates of infection in the study, followed by Brazil and China.
The report also highlights the threat posed by botnets. Microsoft found and removed bots from 2 million PCs in the U.S. during the time covered by the report.
