More Americans own cell phones than own desktops, laptops or any other electronic device.

Cnet: A new Pew survey of 3,000 adults found that 85 percent of those surveyed owned cell phones. That makes cell phones the most popular gadget, followed by desktops (59 percent), laptops (52 percent), MP3 players (47 percent) and gaming consoles (42 percent). If you consider desktops and laptops as one category, 76 percent of those surveyed owned a computer.

The survey also found that 78 percent of those surveyed had at least two of the devices included in the report. Those under 45 owned an average of four devices.
