More than 75 percent of executives surveyed say their companies are using some form of cloud computing.

NetworkWorld: Harris Interactive and Novell have published the results of a recent survey of 210 U.S. IT executives regarding cloud computing. More than 75 percent of those surveyed are using some form of cloud computing--one third private only, one third public and private, and one tenth public only.

The future seems tilted toward private clouds with 29 percent expecting to increase their use of private cloud platforms, and just 5 percent saying they plan to increase use of public clouds. About 80 percent of respondents agreed that the private cloud offers "most of the advantages of public cloud computing without the security and compliance issues."
